Avoiding I 84, we follow the Lewis and Clark Highway on the Washington side. Towards the end of a long day, over 500 miles, we cross the Columbia River and briefly ride on I 84. The interstate is busy with traffic, rain has picked up, and a howling wind funnels down the gorge. We are happy to take shelter for the night at The Dalles, and dine at Clocktower Ales.
